Technology and Interaction

Chose a technical object we interact with and create a new object from the same components. Create a new interaction.

I chose a radio car toy.

For this project it was my desire to learn how to work with clay and be able to do ceramics. My very talented friend and ceramist helped me out. Learned me all from recycling clay, wedging, throwing, trimming, glazing and firing. He helped me out throwing this huge ø 43 cm bowl for my project. A big thanks to Rasmus Degn for being a great master in learning how to throw.

In this project i worked with the border the hidden interaction. As i remodified the remote to become and object with looks of installations art of which you normally wouldn’t touch. Raised on a plinth suggesting the object being art. But using interesting form language, surfaces and dragging the participants focus down to a tentacle like arm, i wanted the 1/100 person to be invited to touch the arm, knowing it must be the wrong thing to do.

As an reward for the one daring him/herself to touch and interact with my object, a humorous plastic frog (without its’ tail) would appear on wheels jumping out from the bottom of the plinth and drive out on the floor.

”Would you call this art or design?” - my censor asked me at my examination. I let myself think for a moment and answered; “Both…It’s designed art” - with a smurk on my face. We both laughed as my answer wasn’t really fulfilling but yet understandable.
